Location en accessibility Zuid-Holland Zuid

The region of South-Holland South consists of the Hoeksche Waard from Zuid-Beijerland to 's Gravendeel to the south of Rotterdam and the Drechtsteden region with Dordrecht as the centre. It also extends to theAlblasserwaard and Vijfheerenlanden from Papendrecht to Vianen, enclosed by the Lek river to the north and the Merwede river to the south.

Several important motorways run through Zuid-Holland Zuid: the E 19, the international motorway via Antwerp and Breda to Rotterdam and Amsterdam, passes Dordrecht; the E 311 connects the Alblasserwaard with Vianen and Utrecht, and the E 31 runs through the Alblasserwaard past towns which include Alblasserdam and Sliedrecht. Bridges, tunnels and secondary roads ensure good link-ups with the entire area. There are numerous car ferries and foot-passenger ferries for a quick river crossing. Dordrecht has a very frequent train connection to Rotterdam, Schiphol, Amsterdam and Antwerp. The stations Sliedrecht, Hardinxveld-Giessendam, Dordrecht and Leerdam are on the Dordrecht-Geldermalsen line.
